About our materials we use!
Bioplastics stand as innovative materials crafted from sustainable biomass sources, encompassing vegetable fats and oils, corn starch, straw, woodchips, sawdust, and recycled food waste.
Their production extends beyond traditional methods, leveraging agricultural by-products and even repurposed plastic bottles through microbial processes.
While conventional plastics, derived from fossil fuels like petroleum and natural gas, dominate the market, it’s essential to note that not all bioplastics are inherently biodegradable or degrade more rapidly than their fossil-fuel counterparts. Typically originating from sugar derivatives such as starch, cellulose, and lactic acid, bioplastics signify a promising avenue for environmentally conscious packaging solutions.
Despite their potential, bioplastics constituted a mere 0.2% of the global polymer market by weight in 2014, underlining the ongoing journey towards mainstream adoption and sustainability in the plastics industry.
